Home Insulation Services Photo Album: Removing Moldy Insulation in Dover, DE
Homeowners in Dover, DE needed their moldy insulation removed from their crawl space.
Their vented crawl space allows warm and cool air to flow in and out of the vents. This creates condensation and humidity within the crawl space. This is what causes insulation to become moldy and to sag away from the sub floor.
Dr. Energy Saver will remove the moldy insulation and insulate the crawl space using the CleanSpace encapsualtion system. The CleanSpace encapsulation system includes Drainage Matting, and SilverGlo Insulation on the walls.
Drainage Matting is installed along the floor of the crawl space. The Drainage Matting is dimpled to create air space for water to flow. SilverGlo insulation is applied to the walls of the crawl space to keep it insulated and to prevent future air leakage. Finally, CleanSpace liner is applied over the Drainage Matting.
This results in much lower humidity in the crawl space as well as warmer floors, less drafts and lower fuel and electric bills.
A Moldy Crawl Space
This photo captures what the crawl space looked like before the encapsulation process began. This homeowner's crawl space was moldy to the vents located in their crawl space.

Sealing the Vents
Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva has begun to seal off the vents in the crawl space using insulated vent covers. This will prevent future air leakage.
Installing Drainage Matting
Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva has begun installing drainage matting along the dirt floor of the crawl space. The drainage matting is dimpled to create air space for water to flow.
Crawl Space Encapsulation
SilverGlo and Cleanspace liner have been applied along the walls and floor of the crawl space to keep it properly insulated and clean.
Installing the SaniDry
To help with the humidity in the crawl space, Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva has installed a dehumidification system called the SaniDry. The SaniDry keeps humidity in the crawl space at an all time low to prevent moisture and mold.
